Assistant Director Primary Function:
Coordinates and supervises the Residence Hall Desk schedules and student and FT/PT desk staffing; provides leadership for facilities management in the residential area; responsible to help maintain and improve residential housing spaces, manage the room key system and supports and implements objectives of Residential Services and Concierge departments. Assists students with room selection process and meal plan changes. Strong IT skill set is required to work with StarRez housing software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruit, interview, hire, train, & supervise student workers with support from the Director and Concierge Office.
Review and adjust time sheets for Residential Services student workers and desk staff on a biweekly basis.
Compile comprehensive desk and office schedules as needed including the academic year, break periods, and summer school and camp schedules.
Provide comprehensive training and evaluation of all Residential Services student workers and Concierge student workers on a routine basis and institute discipline and corrective action when needed.
Assist at Quest Events and other Concierge events as needed
Assist with the daily operations and customer services within the Concierge Office. Maintain desk log books and supplies for each desk.
Assist students with the online Housing room selection process and all associated steps of the registration process. Strong IT skills to assist with programming and set up for school terms.
Be proficient in all aspects of the StarRez, Banner systems, and Salesforce as it relates to Residential Services and Concierge.
Clearly communicate department policy to students & regularly review and revise Desk Policies and Procedures manuals.
Maintain an accurate residence hall room key inventory and key code log throughout the year. Work with locksmith on regular key audits to ensure rooms have the correct keys.
Turns in work orders, handles emergency dorm issues, and conducts regular dorm inspections.
Assist in maintaining relationships with Department Heads and other ORU staff members.
Available for On Call status and Concierge Desk duties on a rotating basis.
All other tasks as required by the Director of Residential Services/Executive Director of Concierge.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Requires a High School diploma or GED. College degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Prefer one year of applicable experience working with college students. Supervisory experience preferred. Must have working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and work under high-pressure conditions. The ability to recall information quickly is especially important. Good mathematical skills needed as well as an eye for detail when recording or inputting information. Ability to offer and maintain excellent customer service to student, parents and ORU Faculty and Staff.
HOURS OF WORK & ATTENDANCE
Normal work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The position requires the employee to serve on a call-in basis for coverage of the Residence Hall desks. Occasional weekend hours may be required during peak times and emergencies.
