Position Overview
The Advantage Program Support Specialist will assist the Advantage Program Manager in the recruitment efforts and enrollment process of all dual enrollment students. The Support Specialist will be the Manager’s primary support in the performance of all significant functions necessary for the university to successfully accomplish its educational business and serve the needs of those enrolling in the Advantage Program.
Responsibilities
- The Specialist is responsible to assist the Manager in reaching program enrollment goals through efforts related to recruiting, onboarding, and retaining schools, organizations, and families participating in the Advantage Program.
- Manages and maintains relationships with school facilitators, parents, and students as recruited by or assigned to the Specialist throughout the academic year.
- Works with the Advantage Program Manager and Coordinator in cultivating a positive student experience throughout the semester, providing resources and support to students and families to answer questions or resolve any issues regarding the enrollment and registration processes, the use of technology and access to student and academic platforms, transcript acquisition, payment plans, and relevant dates and deadlines throughout the year.
- Works with the areas of Academics, Online Learning, D2L, and Registrar to assist with course offerings, section assignments to keep schools together, and invoicing preferences for schools that may need further arrangements or follow up on behalf of Student Accounts.
- Collaborates with the Advantage Program Manager and Admissions Marketing to provide input and feedback on their alterations, deadlines, and need for producing new communication in order to keep students informed about processes, needed steps to enroll, and help them to succeed at ORU, as well as other pertinent university policies, happenings, etc.
- Meets with prospective families who visit campus, answering questions, providing program information, and assisting with next steps. The Specialist may also present program information during on-campus events or off-campus recruitment events as assigned.
- Supports the Program Manager and Director of Admissions with any special projects as assigned and participates in bi-annual debriefs, providing insights, recommendations, and support for carrying out program, process, and system improvements.
Competencies
Knowledge & Experience
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree. (ORU graduate preferred.)
Skills & Abilities:
- One (1) year of related work experience in a similar work setting preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to articulate information well, both verbally and in written form.
- Must have an eye for detail due to the need for accurate record keeping/recording of information that is personal, monetary, and time-sensitive related.
- Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize projects.
- Must have the ability to exercise discretionary judgment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership and time management skills are a must.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times regarding both student records and internally sensitive information.
- Must have the ability to work both as a team member and independently; use sound judgment regarding organizational and departmental regulations, procedures, and policies; quickly establish and maintain rapport with students, faculty, alumni, administration, and parents from varying cultural backgrounds.
- Must have the ability to prioritize multi-tasks in the midst of a fast-paced, high-demand work environment while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Must remain flexible with regard to external factors that may affect the work schedule. (Examples: Change in flight plans, prospective students or parents who require an immediate response, etc.)
- Must remain flexible in regard to pivoting tasks often in order to support the Advantage Program Manager with daily, pertinent program needs.
