JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL TIME
Location: Tulsa, OK
The Library Services Assistant serves within a supervisory capacity for student workers regarding circulation, reserve, and general library duties. The incumbent of this role will work closely with the Research Services Librarian to address departmental matters, provide excellent customer service to library users, perform critical administrative tasks, and maintain the integrity and excellence of the library.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keeps abreast of current policies and procedures pertaining to circulation/reserve functions.
- Oversees the inputting of patron information into computer and or entering/removing reserve material information on the computer.
- Supervises up to 15 work study students a year.
- Maintains proper security of library facilities and assets.
- Deals with library users daily, both in person and over the phone.
- Maintains good public relations, and working relationships with those with whom the position requires contact.

- Performs various administrative tasks such as collecting fees, checking books in and out, requesting needed supplies, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of college.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Requires four years of relevant library experience. Prefers supervisory experience, clerical and cash handling experience, as well as a working knowledge of automated academic library systems.
- Requires proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Prefers experience in using Microsoft Power Point, Adobe software, and Millennium /Sierra (Library Information System). Strong computer skills required and ability to quickly learn new software applications as needed.
- Must have excellent oral, written, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Requires the ability to set priorities, organize and adjust/manage seasonal peaks in workload, meet and communicate with people easily and effectively, ascertain and understand circulation/reserve problems while providing suitable solutions, follow prescribed routines and procedures, and work without supervision.
