OVERVIEW
- FULL TIME
In support of ORU Online’s growth goals, the Director of Online Student Success is responsible for creating and implementing projects that improve retention, persistence, completion, time-to-degree, and overall student experience for ORU Online students at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels. Also manages a team that works directly with ORU Online students to enhance student engagement and help students achieve their educational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the Online Student Success and Retention team that functions as the primary contact for the University for Undergraduate and Graduate ORU Online learners, whose focus is developing a success plan and realistic goals that will contribute to academic and personal achievement in college; develops relationships that foster developmental conversations; and motivates students to achieve their educational goals.
- Oversees retention goals for ORU Online and manages standards for their team members to achieve from term to term. While also providing direction to their team in terms of projects or initiatives that align with the University's Online enrollment growth goals.
- Coordinates and integrates initiatives that promote and enhance student engagement by the online learners to improve the retention, persistence, and graduation rate of ORU Online learners.
- Develops a working knowledge of processes and procedures that Online students encounter through their educational journey, providing innovative ideas to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Creates and implements training for personal and professional development of the Online Student Success and Retention team.
- Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with ORU departments that also provide service to online learners, maintaining open lines of communication and fostering an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
- Provides feedback and analytics for Online Student Success trends within ORU Online and industry patterns to help the University adjust retention and recruiting processes for Online enrollment.
- Researches and attends higher education conferences or workshops to keep ORU Online on the cutting edge of the Online educational experience.
- Serves as a direct connection to the AVP of GLI for ideas and creative solutions for the growth of Online Enrollment.
- As needed, will maintain and represent the University to a minimally selected group of online learners, serving as each student’s point person, the first point of contact, and hands/feet as necessary to gather front-level information and help ORU Online adapt our processes to serve the student better.
COMPETENCIES
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years of related work experience in higher education, customer service or related field required.
SKILLS:
Must be computer literate to include: Word, Excel and Power Point. The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
ABILITIES:
- Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to articulate information well, both verbally and in written form.
- Must have an eye for detail due to the need for accurate record keeping/recording of information that is personal, monetary, and time-sensitive related.
- Must be self-motivated, be driven to meet goals, possess a strong work ethic and be able to prioritize.
- Must have the ability to exercise discretionary judgment.
- Excellent problem solving skills, leadership and time management skills are a must.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times regarding both student records and internally sensitive information.
- Must have the ability to work both as a team member and independently; use sound judgment regarding organizational and departmental regulations, procedures, and policies; quickly establish and maintain rapport with students, faculty, alumni, administration, and parents from varying cultural backgrounds.
- Must have the ability to prioritize multi-tasks in the midst of a fast-paced, high-demand work environment while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Must remain flexible with regard to external factors that may affect the work schedule.
